Well, a resistor 'resists' the flow of current in a circuit in accordance with 'Ohms Law'. Resistors can be fixed or variable values, some are adjusted using a knob others change resistance depending on light level, temperature etc.....
A Diode is a semiconductor which in it's simplest form allows current in one direction but not the other.
Diodes are used for (among other things); reverse polarity protection, radio demodulation/detection, logic gates, Lighting (LED's are diodes), lasers, overvoltage protection, AC>DC conversion....the list goes on!
There are many types of diode including silicon, germanium, schotty, varicap, zener etc etc all with different uses depending on the application.

Ok a resister restricts the flow of electricity on any given circuit . In other words 12 v -----> resist -----> 8v just e.g voltage can vary.
Now a diode which is shaped the same except they are usually black with a silver band around one end which is also an indication of the direction it is installed.
Because diodes only allow voltage to pass thru them one way .
Schotky Diodes are popular with R.C. Cars they are placed across the motor to only allow the voltage to flow through the motor one way so as not to lose any power that may wish to leak the other.

A diode allows current to only flow in one direction. A resistor is essentially a load where higher resistance reduces current flowing in a circuit based on ohms law which says Voltage = Current x Resistance. So if Voltage remains constant and resistance increases, Current decreases.

Ummmm not really a straightforward question. Basically a resistor is exactly that, offers some resistance to current flowing through it in any direction, and therefore has a voltage drop across it.
A diode has a small fixed voltage drop in one direction and does not allow current to flow in the other direction.

you cannot run a diode in series type circuit, only in parallel, where it would be used as a resister. a diode will not function if ran in series, but will act as a resister in ran in parallel.

A diode can do different things like emit light like an L.E.D(Light Emitting Diode) were as a resistor controls electric current in a circuit so that something like a light won't blow

If you intend to learn how to end almost any violence the you should have this system of Bruce Perry, Patriot Self Defense , a course that you only will find it here https://tr.im/BC9ck
Patriot Self Defense may show you a highly effective self-defense program that's been field-tested in houses, at government events and on some of the meanest streets in the world against the most questionable, clever and harmful criminal.
With Patriot Self Defense you will discover out that's much simpler you then estimated to guard your self because you never need to be a specialist or have strength, you only have to learn how to do specific moves, easy actions but deathly.

diode either let the charge pas or not ( that is it allows only one type of the charge to flow) . Resister let the charge pass but decreases it.
