1) You can't run programs on a typewriter.
2) You can't use the internet on a typewriter.
3) There is no spellchecker on a typewriter.
4) You couldn't have asked thisstupid question on a typewriter.
Ooooops 4 is an example of a typewriter being better than a computer

One reason I would add to the many good ones listed is that one can correct misspellings much faster and neater on a computer than a typewriter. I believe the typewriter was a precursor to the computer word processing programs that allow for many of the functions listed in other answers.

1) You can backspace on a computer, but not on a typewriter.
2) Computers have spellchecks and grammar checks.
3) You can cut and paste from the internet/refer to sources (in soft copy) easily on the computer.
4) You have to push that awfully irritating thing on the right side of the typewriter A LOT, you know, when it gets too far and you wanna start a new line. On computers, it takes a click of the mouse of a press of the 'Enter' button
5) You can save your work on the computer but not in the typewriter.

Because typwriter is like Microsoft Word. You computer has more than just that. You can research without books on the computer. You can't go to yahoo answers with your typewriter.

wow have you been to a museum? Have you ever used a typewriter? pc is better.
I have another question: Why are the keys on a computer set out the same as on a typewriter? Its not like they are going to clog up and stick like on a real typewriter.

Typewriters can jam up if you type too quickly, for starters, and it's easier to edit a paper on a computer than it is on a typewriter.

computer can do many things with many diffirent software, but typewrite can not. typewrite can only do typing.
