I want to address a slightly different angle to this question. Everyone refers to "dying of cancer". That concept feels too far away especially when people say things like" everybody is going to die of something". All of you justifiers out there PLEASE read this:
To die of lung cancer is painful and brutal with or without treatment. IN ADDITION almost every long term smoker and second hand smoker develop emphysema. DO YOU justifiers know what that feels like and looks like? Go ahead and google those diseases. If you prefer to die suffocating over a long period of time, it feels like never being able to catch your breath, having fluid collect in your legs until the skin breaks and fluids leak out. do you want to die of regret while your family stands around you weeping knowing that you had a heavy hand in such a terrible way to die? The people who love you will suffer every step of the way with you. Is this your choice?

I am a smoker for more than 20 years now. Having read so many articles on the ill effects of cigarette smoking, I tried but failed to stop the habit. It really scares me to have to confront the alleged diseases that might come to me anytime. Anyway, I would like to give this little advice to all non-smokers : Don't light that first Cigarette.

I smoke but I am working on quitting. It causes long term health problems. Plus I can see why several of the non-smokers complain about it for. Cause second hand smoke is worse then first hand smoking is. So they dont want to have lung problems or cancer due to other peoples bad habits. However there are lots of things in life that could kill us or cause us to have long term health problems. We can't make those things go away so I don't worry about it so much.

So you don't want little ones. How about something I saw on 60 minutes or a show like that where they showed that the tobacco industry said in internal documents that they were aware of the problems with smoking tobacco. Yet to the press, they said they knew nothing.
Smoking causes a wide variety of health problems and it is a load on the tax system to take care of these conditions.

Tiny little whats? You smoke or you don't. I smoked for over 30 years and most of the time liked it very much. Then it made me feel smelly, skint and ill so I stopped.
I could smoke again if the notion took me but now, I don't see the point.

you pays yer money and takes yer chance

There are no pros about smoking. only cons. I started when I was 13, 34 years ago. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I have tried to quit many, many times. 2 of my daughters smoke. my car stinks, my clothes stink. Tried to get some help from my state's stop smoking program but damn, I was told I didn't qualify for help. I asked why didn't I qualify. They said they would get back to me in 2 days with an answer to that. that was 2 months ago. never heard from them.

I smoked casually off and on for years. I thought I was immune to any health risks. I was wrong. Smoking isn't worth giving your breathe up for. Smoking is not even an option for me now.
