there are several ways to treat allergies. there is no cure for them unfortunately...
i have severe asthma and am allergic to several things.
i react most to:
-cigarette smoke
-dust
-pollen
-grass
-pet dander
-strong perfumes
-powder
i also have a few food allergies
-watermelon (weird huh)
-honeydew
-cantelope
-avacados
-milk
i take Allegra-D every morning which is a prescription allergy medication. it works great and lasts all day long-i have no side effects and don't react as much to the outdoor triggers unless there is ALOT of it present.
with food allergies-stop eating ANYTHING you react to. with these, the more you are exposed to them and medications you might be allergic to, the more you come in contact with them, the worse the reaction gets, eventually leading to anaphelatic shock which means your throat closes and you are unable to breathe. so avoid any medications or foods you react poorly to. there are some foods that have alternatives you can eat instead. like with me-i can't have milk so i use soy instead-it works great, even to cook with. but make sure to check labels on everything you buy to make sure no form of your allergen is included.
for the outdoor allergens or pets-try to avoid them if possible. use an air purifier in your home and vacuum and dust often. alot of household cleaners now come in allergy free formulas for those of us who are sensitive to chemicals.
taking an allergy medication everyday will greatly reduce your symptoms. there are several out there so check with your doctor to see which one works best for you.

I have allergies too, so bad in the midwest that I am moving south to get away from it all. Lived in the south for a few years and was better for most of the year. Good Luck.
Have you tried allergy shots?

Chronic allergy to what? Is it possible to stay away from it or to avoid eating it? If so, then that is what to do. Contact an allergist if not and see what they can do.

What're you allergic to?
Try to remove the allergen from your environment, and meanwhile see a doctor for treatments to make it less severe.
