careful roxie, you may end up with a 1000 bible thumpers on your door step demanding an apology, but its ok you can calm them by showing them the sacred scat on your patio. now where did i leave my bible, oh there it is under the coffee table.

Truth is what we believe in. Reality is often something different.
There are various theories about how the body works and how you can switch symptoms on and off. Allergies are part of the body's immune system. Any "cure" will be regarded as a scientific miracle for a few years. Then they'll find some other "cause" of hayfever and asthma and show that the "cure" is actually the cause of some other immune problem.
The same applies to how the universe came about. Creationists think God did it in a week about 6,000 years ago. Current scientific theory says it happened quicker much longer ago - and then everything else evolved more slowly. (In the beginning there was nothing and it exploded).
Chapter 1 of Genesis is quite handy if you want an explanation of the relationship between God, the universe and man, told in the language of the state of scientific knowledge of about 2,200 years ago. For the same story with 3,000 year old science, try Chapter 2. Current scientific thinking is useful if you're prospecting for oil (Genesis tends not to be too useful here).
In a hundred years time, current theories about big bang and evolution will be regarded as quaint old-fashioned superstition, in much the same way as Genesis. There will be pressure groups wanting big bang to be retained in schools.
For those who believe that the bible should be taken literally, Genesis is the truth. For others, theoretical physics is the truth. Both are good models for explaining away something that happened a long time ago and is probably beyond our comprehension. I suspect none of them are reality.

I read that story - a cure for all allergies to be on the market within 3 years. I think that we'll see a lot of cures within the next ten years including a breakthrough in the treatment for cancer.I'm sure we'll see questionable anti-ageing breakthroughs (as we've become such an image and youth obsessed society) but sadly the cure for the common cold and bad spelling (the most serious of Internet epidemics?) will elude us.

creationists allergy to they truth? i've not heard that one before. so you are determined that there was nothing, then there was everything? then we evolved from something they can't decide on through the various motions till we reach us? even though the fossil record is pitifully lacking. even though the big bang is against all physical laws. there is in truth, so much scientific evidence AGAINST evolution it is laughable people believe it.
