they will work if you work them..
However, .sometimes, a person has to develop or learn certain TOOLS to do the work it takes., whether through counseling, personal advisors, friends...finding out from others that you may admire or consider successfel. Or, making sure you know what it is you need and want and also what you do not want. Learn to know yourself...
I asked a long termer once what she thought the key ingredient is for a successful enduring relationship.
Consideration first for each other always.

Let me see, I know of a relationship that has lasted 42 years, and through several moves together... It took commitment and an attitude that they weren't going to divorce... but yes relationships can be long term, even in today's generations...

I've been with someone for 4 years... we've broken up and had our times... but we're engaged.. I dont think there really is a "properly" to a relationship but they do work... and it is worth the effort that you put into it.
