Who Won WW I and WW II ?

Many Americans seem to think that they won The World Wars single handedly.
Why do they think this ?

The Allies won with the help of US.

I dont think anyone one. You first need to decide who was on which side. Well, thats hard enough as it is, with Yanks only helping as and when it suited then, countries changing side etc.
Most people seem to think it was Germany V England, but I see it more as a Germany v France conflict. In terms of "winners" each country conrtibuted ie, the outcome would have been different without the use of Bletchley Park and their code brakeing equipment, just as the outcome would have been different without the late help of the Americans.
Without a doubt the world is a better place for these two wars, although i'm not saying they were a good thing. But I would rather live in a post WW2 world than a Hitler controlled world.
Who won? The whole world. Society. History. Everybody. Nobody.

The average American lives in a the first revolutionary state that they are trying to turn into something right of the Attila the Hun and has the grasp of daily affairs and historical events that are not quite as good as Tinker Bell's. No one won the first world war, they just stopped fighting and resumed Sept,1939. The Allies won that one and set up the conditions for the Cold War.

The answer to this depends on nationality, If you are from anywhere but US, WWII did not happen because WW I never actually ended.
So, who won? The Israeli's won because they got a country(1947), the Vietnamese won because they gained independence and got rid of foreign control (1973), The Japanese won because they became a world power that could not be walked on, the Chinese won because they gained independence from foreign control, and are becoming a world power, the arab nations won because poor nomads became wealthy oil merchants.

Who lost- well the citizens of the US because we were blind and paid for it all!

Nobody won WW1. The Russians won WW2 and America benefited financially. Britain was put into a recession it never recovered from till the Thatcher years

the Americans came to WW1 very late on...and no they didn't win WW2 either......they were part of the allied forces ...of Gt Britain and Commonwealth,France,Belgium,Holland,Poland Czechoslovakia, South Africa,India,Burma,and many other nations that provided man/woman power for the war....don't forget all of the resistance fighters of occupied Europe and elsewhere (they all provided troops )..even the Chinese..not forgetting Russia and America..the Americans will be saying they won the Battle of Britain next when they only had a 8 losses .(Fisk amongst them)..

the stupid thing is that they probably would not have been involved in any wars if their own people were neither harmed or threatened. in WWI they joined in the war because of the sinking of the ship the Lusitania, by a German sub, which killed a number of Americans. in WWII they entered into a war with JAPAN when Pearl Harbor was bombed and a number of Americans were killed. they only entered into the EUROPEAN war when HITLER declared war on THEM!

there seems to be some underlying pattern emerging, no?

This is their media who made them also think they won the war in Vietnam and Iraq and the war on terror... Also the same media telling them that Palestinians are terrorists not a freedom fighters..Most of the Americans either they do not know, they do not want to know or they want to believe these lies!!

USA won them with the help of the Brits & Ausies & Ruskies. Brits & Ausies held Nazis at bay until the USA woke up. USA provided war materials to the 3 nations mentioned. Oh yes, France helped by staying the hell out of the way.

As the Americans only stepped in after they had been bombed by the japs at pearl harbour i don't feel they have the right to claim the victory. It was actually the alliance that won the war!
