Once in my world religions class in high school, some of our jewish students were passing around samples of kosher foods as a demonstration in the judaism unit of the class. A jar of something (I forget what it was) comes my way, and one of the students talking up front mentioned that he actually didn't care for the food at all. I pass the jar on to the kid next to me without even trying it, and he asks if I was going to try some before giving it to him. I reply "Hey, if the Jew doesn't like it, I don't want to touch it."

Some people laughed, some were shocked. *lol* Anyone here ever say anything like that that SOUNDS offensive, but really isn't? :D

It is not unlike something said by one of the Jews who were being held hostage at Entebbe in 1976. Just like Christianity, Judaism is fractured into many different beliefs or religions. There are those who do and don't keep kosher. Generally, orthodox Jews keep kosher. There was some among the hostages at Entebbe. They separated themselves from the others and kept Kosher. One of the non-orthodox Jews decided he would also keep kosher, so his friend asked him why. He said look at those who are keeping kosher, compared to those who weren't. The ones who were keeping kosher were healthier.

You might consider renting the 1977 movie, Raid on Entebbe. You will like it.

just because one person did not like the food, doesn't mean you wouldn't. it was ignorant of you not to try it. referring to someone as "the jew" is slang. yes, the person may have been jewish, the same as you are christian, catholic, luthern, etc. remember, jewish is a religion, not a race. think before you speak. it is not a long distance between your brain and your mouth.

It's just dry humor. I say things like that, but only to people who know my sense of humor. Strangers might be offended.
