Hi Gayle...some neutered males can spray, however it's not as common as an un-neutered male. The quick quivering of the tail while directed straight upwards is part of the former instinct. Neutered males also do this when they are excited too.

Yes they can and boy is it annoying. My cat was neutered long ago but he still sprays. Sometimes they look they're spraying but aren't. Although sometimes they look like it and are. You'll be able to tell from the smell. If your house starts smelling like pee, you're cat's actually spraying a lot. I don't know of any way to break them of it either. :(

once a cat starts spraying, even after getting it neutered, there is a possibility that it will continue to spray. but if you get your cat neutered before he starts spraying then you are almost guarenteed he won't start. can't say that it is 100% effective because as soon as I say that someone will say that they had their cat neutered before he started spraying and he did anyway.

Yes they CAN still spray, but usually that desire is taken away when they are neutered.
The "posturing" U are referring to is a half-way attempt to spray. No harm done!

They can still spray, but rarely does this happen getting your cat neurted usually stops all of that, makes them fat and lazy as well!

They look like they are but they aren't it's just a natural reaction. The silly tom cat's don't know they have been fixed.

unfortunatley yes. It happened to us. Our cat had to have some gland removed or something. Take it to the vet.
