the 10% from your income as your as your tithes was for the Esraelites during the time ; of moses as ordered by him from GOD but now during the time of jesus christ in the spreading of christianity that was no lopnger consiered. it was forbiden by jesus, however, he told us to give what we can give , any amount which you think you can give provided it came from your own heart and it is voluntary in nature and not ;to tell anybody of the ;amount you may give

I can't explain the miracle inherent to tithing, but when I give my 10%, somehow I seem to pay my bills, have extra money left over, and just get a lot more done.

My husband and I have recently increased our tithing to a higher percentage than the 10, just to make sure that we are not retaining too much of God's wealth--which is truly what it is.

It's all His. Be blessed.

thank you for the question, drew . i believe that you should tithe IF you can. God won't send you to hell for not tithing. however let me say this. people have got it all wrong . The reward you get for tithing , and all other rewards that God promises is NOT FOR THIS WORLD. they are for the world to come. and you only get there by accepting Jesus as your saviour. that is the only way. the people on TV have led many astray by their false teachings. God wants your love and your soul. money and everything else on earth is HIS already. I'm not saying that you shouldn't tithe. You should, to your local church. but tithing isn't conducive to being saved. God bless you and yours

As a Catholic, we are taught that Jesus gave His life for each human person, as an atonement for all our sins. This self sacrifice is the example of complete True Love.

God is Love.

Whether in marriage, finance, child rearing, evangelization, or social relationships this concept of total self giving is what enhances human existence, human love.

The amount is fluid to each person. It is a matter of the total persons position, intentions, and present state of time, talents, and treasures to the kingdom of God.

The concept of sacrifice in Love is the exact virtue that Jesus is teaching however.

God Bless you also! I believe you should give from your heart and what you can afford. Some weeks are easier to give than others. What matters is that you do.... not the amount

that portion was given to the hungry... so yes, i believe its justified. the hebrew word for charity is tzedekah which also means justice... because the jewish belief is that the needy have a right to food and shelter, and only in giving it to them is G-ds justice done

I think it is insane. We are all already forced to support churches through their tax-exempt status.
