The spiritual significance of the cross due to Jesus' crucifixtion is not entirely unlike Hitler's use of the swastika. If one was to do his research, he'd learn that the clockwise-directional swastika was actually a universal sign of good luck and fortune, while the counter-clockwise swastika (the one flaunted on the Nazi flag) was a sign of bad luck. Hitler takes the unfortunate symbol and twists it into pure evil, and no one wants so much as to even LOOK at a swastika, much less recognize what it's actually supposed to mean.
It's the same way with the cross. It WAS a horrible torture device, but since it was used as a tool for Jesus to grant access to Heaven, it's now seen as the holiest of Christian symbols.

As Christians became more superstitious, they relied more on symbolic images to center their faith on, much like when the Israelites created the golden calf. Today's Christian make the same mistake thinking that Faith is found in things, when it is really in the human heart.
The Romans began using the cross as a regular instrument of execution in 74 A.D., over 40 years after the time of Christ. At the time of Christ, the Jews used a branchless tree, as it says in the oldest scrolls. It was not replace with the word, Cross until nearly the third century, when the than Roman Cesar declared himself the first Pope. The use of the Cross, as well holidays like Christmas and Easter helped combine the pagan beliefs of Rome with the growing Christian presence. Unfortunately, they had forgotten the words of the Apostle Paul, who thought he had worked for nothing, as the Christian began returning to their old ways, so the problem was already beginning even in his time.

Sorry I don't. I don't believe. Ask u something....what if Jesus Christ died in an electric chair? What sign r u going to do? What if he died from a lethal injection? would you also do the sign of the lethal injection? Just curious but true isnt it?
Nor did I ever read in the Bible stating to use the sign of the cross so I am not committing blasphemy.

Where in the heck did you hear THAT ??? Iv'e never heard of that.
Are u talking about people being crucified ?? Or being beat with one ....?
If it's about "the Cross" in general, then it represents Jesus giving his life for
or sins, so that we may have everlasting life with God. His Blood washed
away our sins.

Just as the Star of David is a symbol of the Jewish faith the cross is a symbol of Christian faith.

That's how Jesus was executed. If He'd been sentenced to the electric chair, we'd be wearing little electric chairs, no doubt.
