Your computer could be running slow for a number of reasons.
I am not up on the technical language but I will try to explain as good as I can.
You may have a virus on it, you may need to defrag the hard drive...you may be running to many greedy programmes etc.
It is best to start with the simple things first:
I would recommend :
1) Virus check.
2) Remove any unwanted programmes, files etc from your computer. I often clear out the silly games which are preloaded.
I also remove all the Windows stuff which I will never use.
If you look on the internet you can probably find an updated list of windows programmes which you can delete without worry.
3) If you have compression facilities on your computer, try compressing the hard drive.
4) Next defrag your computer, this will remove any small bits of data that are floating around your hard drive.

If this fails...buy extra memory, sometimes this can ease the problem, if not I fear that you may need to take it in a shop and have it looked at.

Hope it helps :o)
p.s
I didn't just answer this to win a tv (I'm just a big headed know it all ...know nothing)

Usual Reasons for Slow Running Computers
1. Too many programs running at the same time
2. Too many temporary internet files
3. Badly Fragmented hard drive
4. Virus's, Spyware, Trojans etc
5. Hard Drive too full
6. Power hungry peripherals, ie cams, external drives
7. Too many windows services running or duplicated.
8. Faulty or clogged RAM
9. Faulty USB, Video or sound sockets causing a power drain.

These are not all the answers but I hope it helps.

Run a couple of virus scans. You may also want to clean up your pc:

Start -> Programs -> Accesories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup

The check any of the box's in there, most of the stuff is junk anyway and begin the cleanup!
