I just received something from my pediatrician's office and it said, "Most toddlers change from a wide based "bow-legged" gait to one that appears more "knock-kneed" or "pigeon-toed. This appearance persists during the school-aged years, then improves during adolescence. Special shoes or braces are not necessary." I'm not even sure if this answers your question, but I thought I'd share. If your concerned, definitely call your doctor. If, for anything, reassurance that everything is fine.

As the mother of 4 kids, 2 boys 2 girls, I can tell you that the average age for a child to walk ranges between 11 months and 14 months. But you should be seeing some other "walking gestures" earlier.
9 months: He should start trying to stand at around 9 months--usually they try to pull up on furniture to do this.
10 months: they start cruising along the furniture--holding on to the sofa while they walk along side it.
11-13 months: you should see them trying to stand in the middle of the floor. This should soon be followed by toddling steps.
The best encourager for walking is to praise them ecstatically whenever they cruise or try to stand.
If you aren't seeing the developmental stages of walking, see a doctor. A little occupational therapy NOW could cut out a lot of problems in the future.

If you are worried go speak to your Dr and have your child evaluated. He could be having problems with his muscle development which is easily treated. Just relax don't jump to any conclusions until you are seen the Dr. Remember boys do tend to be slower than girls in early development.

everyone is different developmentally
walk at one (start initiating walking)
talk at two.......
some start before, some after. be patient with your babe!
If doctor is concerned, he will let you know.
My son is two and he has mastered the stairs and walks perfectly.
I think 3 is way too late to master walking.

Around 9-18 months... everyone is different. If its a little later don't worry... but if you get concerned talk to your doctor (they're your best friend).
