Well, I'm trying to get the gist here.
First of all, if you're talking of the time before Jesus's arrival, the faithful had a set of laws, according to the Lord, and moses, on how we were to act, what to wear, etc.
If a person died, and was right in the Lord, he would go to heaven.
If a person died, and was not right with the Lord, he obviously took up smoking.
Now, if you're asking, after the Lord comes back, after the tribulation, and all that jazz, the simple point, is this:
There won't be a earth, populated by humans anymore.
The old earth will pass away....everyone has to go through judgement, and the Lord's reign, will be for 2000 years....after which time, the serpent will be released for a short time, before final victory occurs.
But by this time, the ones of faith will be with the Lord, while the unfaithful, will be consumed for eternity, in a lake of fire.

Death does not terminate man’s life. On the other hand, Islam teaches that it is the door that opens to an eternal lifer after death. The appropriate reward for one’s earthly deeds, good or bad, is disbursed only in the Hereafter. The Islamic belief is that mankind will be resurrected, on the Day of Judgment, after every creation is destroyed. After being reborn, man will face a trial which will be in absolute control of the Almighty. Here, all the good and bad acts of man during his sojourn on earth will be unfurled before his eyes in order to be ultimately judged by God. The virtuous will be rewarded with virtue and the wrong doers punished appropriately. Those who have made sacrifices and discharges noble deeds will receive the shelter of peace in Heaven and those who have denigrated their lives through vices and evil will be condemned to suffer horrors of Hell. Islam inculcates the concept of accountability both in public and private life of a person by emphasizing the paramount importance of life Hereafter for mankind.

Actually all of the Prophets of God, right from Adam taught people that after death, we will all stand for Judgment before God and then God will decide if we go to heaven or hell.

In Gensis (the beginning) after the sin, (in the garden of eden) when death started for us. Before the sin ,there was no death for mankind. That one event, created sin, pain, and death. That was our punishment. When we die, we return to who we worshiped in life. To God or Satan.
When Jesus walked among us he taught about pardise and hell. On the cross, before his death he promised a repented thief that he would be with HIM (Jesus) in pardise with The Father.(GOD)
From the Old Testament to the New Testament the belief in heaven and hell has not changed.

Spirit Prison or Paradise, until we are resurrected and face the judgement and be judged by Jesus Christ, and then we will be sent to where we deserve to go. Either a very good place, or somewhere else.
This is a truth that God has taught us since the beginning of time.

according to the Bible, "Jesus" was on Earth, not "God"! So I guess Jesus believed you'd go to heaven if you died, and heaven is where God is.
i think you are asking the wrong questions though!

when a person dies, he will not instantly go to either hell or ; heaven. his spirit will just be taken by god for him to judge and ;give him the penalty when judgement comes upon the return of jesus christ to the earth GOD, the father and jesus christ are sitted in heaven watching us and they are not possib ly here on earth. when judgement comes, sinners will be b rought to the fire for punishment of sins while non sinners will be taken by god to heaven for eternal life

there is no heaven or hell not to shake your belief or anything but your soul becomes one with God or in Hinduism you may get reincarnated to serve out the rest of your Karma here on earth and depending on your actions in your previous life.
