No, it is not automatically a KO. Only when a person can't get up is it considered a KO.

In MMA the importance of a knockdown is diminished--some guys would rather fight on the ground and will actually "fake" a knockdown to try and lure his opponent there. In boxing, as a previous poster noted, the ref has to determine whether a knockdown is actually that--it has to be caused by a punch. Otherwise, it's referred to as a "slip". Sometimes in boxing there's controversy when a knockdown is called a slip or vice versa, but ultimately its a judgement call for the ref.

The rule is when the gloves touch the ground - a knockdown is recorded and the fighter is given the standing 8 count. If the fighter loses his balance and the gloves touch the ground without prior contact from the opponent - no point is deducted.

people like that first fool are gonna say "Boxers surely know the thanks to punch, MMA combatants do each thing". that could be authentic, yet wager what? it truly is not that major, because ALL fights initiate on the ft, and with the intention to take someone to the floor, you gotta get on the fringe of them. Plus, people fail to practice how massive of an benefit a Boxer might want to have even as status. Yeah, an MMA fighter might want to throw a kick. Then he might want to get blasted severe because he's leaving himself huge open. it honestly relies upon on the combatants. someone who trains MMA may be in a position to take a Boxer down, yet he might want to might want to threat getting close and getting fingers on him, which will no longer be sturdy information. The Boxer is gonna land a punch, and except the MMA fighter has an outstanding chin, he will probably bypass down not straightforward. maximum MMA combatants have fantastically undesirable chins too, except for a dozen or so elite adult men.

Neat question--didnt realize there were that many "boxing" fans around? But the ANSWER is--thats one of the many duties of the "Ref" (referee) in the ring---he determines if it was a fall/punch/slip/whatever--if
you see the "eight-count" coming, then it was judged to be caused by a "hit" from the opponent--and in a close match, "points score" sometimes makes the difference.

No, it is not a kock-out but it is a knock-down which means that 1 point will be deducted from his score in that round. If he gets knocked down and can't get up before the count of 10 then it is a kock-out and he looses the fight.
