...Therapy. Get her into therapy. Now. If she has a mental illness, it could definitely go downhill from here.

Make sure she is regularly exercised (???!??), given a good kennel with all mod cons both good for the disposition.
If you have puppies, remember they can be a strain and she will need time off occasionally even though she may not realise it.
Alternatively keep her on a very tight leash so she can't bite and if she continues to bark and growl in front of people despite your best efforts in the above I suggest you think carefully about where you take her walkies.
Giving her a bone (chocolates, jewellery, flowers) may distract her while she focuses her energies, resulting in a temporary stop to the barking or biting but it may not have a permanent effect.
I suspect any attempt to put a muzzle or gag or her could only cause more barking and biting into the longer term. Think this is thus inadvisable.
You could find a good trainer (counseller, coach, phsyologist, mentor) but it might be difficult for the object of your affections to accept the trainer. The trainer is unlikly to be allowed to hold the leash until accepted without risk of being barked at or biten.
Good luck, I hope you reach a better outcome with your pet, as I know that you have great love for her .

Assuming your wife is human and your are saying she is very moody or hormonal. Either way if she is human take her to quiet secluded places so she will not embarrass you with all this barking and biting. If it is your neighbors she is doing this with...get her to bake them something...sometimes initiating kindness tames the soul! She may just be a complainer and you need not be around when she is awake! If she complains about this...then write her a kind letter that explains your absence and that you would love to be around her when she wishes to be loving and kind.

If your wife is barking and biting people she sounds pretty cool to me. Why should she stop?

Well, you could distract her. Maybe give her a nice warm bath, with candles, champagne, and strawberries. Don't forget the chocolate! You'll see how this will brighten her mood considerable and she may want to run all over the house...it may be best to just let her run outside to dry and to roll in the grass.

I can't imagine that, because I'm sure it's a quite common problem. Maybe most people are just too embarrassed to talk openly about it. You are very brave. Take her to the vet.

Duct tape around her mouth {?} then chain her to the furthest tree from your house. Make sure the tree is on your own property though

a muzzle and a leash when you take her for a walk. Obedience school, a bowl full of water, and some dog chow will help.

She is nasty tell her to stop it. Better still bark at her and she will see how bad it is and she may stop her bad habit.
