several means a few .... so many means a lot of

So many is more than several. Both are vague references to numbers or amounts.

i was always told that several means 3?? dont know it thats right.. just maybe a way for my parents to make me shut up and stop asking questions?

a few is 3
several is more than 3
so many is a lot but not too many

you use SO MANY when you aren't able to count, SEVERAL when too lazy to count!
