My 15 month old baby boy is biting me too :)

Here some info:
While biting especially among toddlers in group settings is age-appropriate, it remains a major frustration for educarers and parents of toddlers. Peruse the program of many early childhood conferences and you will find at least one workshop on the toddler behavior of biting. Why do toddlers bite and how can adults prevent it?

Why do toddlers bite?

It is useful to understand why toddlers bite before seeking to change the behavior. Unfortunately, since toddlers (approximately one to three year olds) have limited language and few of us can read minds, we can only make an educated guess as to why they bite. Some of the probable reasons that toddlers bite:

Teething. Cutting teeth hurts. Chewing on something relieves the pain. Toddlers are egocentric and cannot yet put themselves in the place of others. They do not know they are hurting another. This may explain the look of disconnect, the lack of concern, that you sometimes see on a toddler’s face when their victim is screaming from the pain of being bitten.

Sensory Exploration. Anyone who has spent much time with babies and toddlers knows that they put everything in their mouths. This includes other children and adults. Biting is sometimes a way of learning about another child. This is more likely with babies but it is not unusual for toddlers.

Cause and Effect. After about 8-months-old, babies and toddlers begin to mentally play with the connection that their actions have on the world around them. "If I bite Andrew, I hear a high pitched scream and my special adults come running to my side. I wonder if it will happen again." seems to be in the mind of some biting toddlers. Toddlers are learning to have an impact on their world and biting definitely has an impact.

You probably don't want to hear this, but when I came along, parents always bit the baby back (not hard, just a nip...enough to break the cycle) and they also told everyone else to do that. The baby usually stopped biting when they realized they will feel pain in return everytime.

Here were my experiences and I did allowed my daughters bite my fingers and they enjoyed them very much and it was not hurt at all.I did not let them chew the plastic toys that they had.So this is the best thing that happened.Make sure your kid are ready for the teeth is coming and it will hurt them real bad I urge you buy a counter medicine to treat your child. The first year of raising a child is very challenge and I wish you well.

oh my Gawd.. Do NOT i repeate DO NOT BITE HER BACK.. for 1- this will get you in some serious trouble with child welfare and 2- she will think if mother for father does it then it must be ok even if it hurts.. No slaping or biiting back the child... NO SOAP EITHER.. this is considered abuse now days.. Pretend to cry and as if your feelings are hurt and yes give her a teething ring or something else.. Melba Toast is a great teether and also a healthy snack for a little one..

An incredibly fast, hard backhand will send her reeling across the room. I guarantee, guarantee that she will never bite, hurt or play up again. She will cower whenever you're near for the rest, I mean, the rest of her life. You will have the upper hand forever.

why does she bite?
If teething hurts, you can give her the cooked heart of a sheep to bite.It is delicious and firm enough to bite.
If she wants to attract you,pay more attention to her.
Please,do not bite her.She is too young.
My daughter used to do so and hated plastic rings. She only used to bote my finger or her daddy's hand.when teething finished , biting finished too..
It is normal. All babys do that.

She's old enough to smack, and she's old enough to BITE HER BACK. Bite her exactly as hard as she bites you. Just don't put up with that crap.
