Animal scabies (Sarcoptic mange) not infrequently attacks human beings, especially the owners of affected lap dogs or cats, and grooms attending mangy horses. There is no incubation period, the disease occurring immediately the parasite is trasferred to the human skin. The burrows characteristic of human scabies are not found, the eruption being a small red popular rash which affects the arms or other parts which have been in contact with the infected animal. Sometimes the eruption is very profuse and widestread. The best place to find the acarus is the point of elbow. When the source of infection is detected and cut off the disease tends to die out of itself, but the treatment with benzl benzoate or gamma benzene hexachloride should always be instituted.

It could be fleas which do contract to humans. Get your dog a flea collar or dip and go to a doctor.

Yes, it could be scabies, fleas, or even staph infections. Take the dog in and then on the way home, you stop and see your doctor.

Better get the dog to the vet. If he has sarcoptic mange then you could have it too.

I have read that the mites (sarcoptic) that cause mange can spread to humans, and on humans it is called scabies.
