Just got back from the annual San Francisco Chocolate Festival, so this question is perfect timing.

Strawberries... a must! Some thick slices of kiwi work well too. Hard to keep pineapple from dripping, and pineapple juice can ruin the chocolate in your fondue pot, so be very careful.... maybe save that for last?

Angel food cake or pound cake, cut into squares.

Madadamia nuts are even better than cashews, but both are tough to keep on a fondue fork and can fall into your pot... a real mess.

Marshmallows... but get some good ones from Williams Sonoma or a specialty candy shop, not the supermarket junk.

Macaroons... the soft kind.

Be sure to use a good quality dark chocolate... Scharffenberger or Valrhona are best.

Strawberries, kiwi, granny smith apples, bananas, angel food cake, pound cake, pretzels. I also do a Carmel fondue along with the chocolate for dipping the apples pretzels and bananas. Also chopped nuts, and flaked coconut. This is always a hit with adults and children.

Sliced Bananas, strawberries, peaches, and even sweet breads and cookies all work very well. I also suggest you serve a sparkling white wine.
