In college, I took a class on Reformation History. During a break at home, I asked my thoroughly German Lutheran grandmother how long the family had been Lutheran. She replied with a date before the Reformation.
When I protested that there had been only Roman Catholics at that date in history, she replied, "Then we weren't very good ones."
I would hold to be deep in history is to be proto-protestant.

Protestants are relativly new to the scene, if that's what you're getting at. If you're saying that Protestants have built an incorrect view of their own legacy, or display an ignorance of traditions that came before them, then I think no more than any group.

I don't know where you are exactly going with this. You mean because they were an offshoot of Catholicism?
I personally dislike Protestants. Bible thumpers, hillbillies, ghetto slime. Can't stand em.
Personally, I worship an 8,000 year old African religion. You want to talk about history. I'll give you history!

carl,
Actually the Roman Catholics were the new kids on the block. Paul never mentioned them, neither did Jesus. Jesus did describe what they did, pray in repetition, He called them "HEATHEN."
