For every year that a dog lives it is equal to 7 human years. If your dog dies at 16 years then this means that your dog was 112 years old (human).`

The whole 7 year thing isn't very accurate, the dog calculator seems to be a bit more realistic. Your dog was probably about 75-80 years old in human years. So he lived a fairly long life. I hope you aren't taking it too hard, it's nice to know he lived a good life. Our family dog died of cancer when he was only 5, so it was very hard. Hope you're okay, and may your dog rest in peace.

the popular dog year comparison says 7 dog years to one human year.. However, more accurate is 10.5 dog years for the first 2 years, and 4 dog years per human year thereafter. So your dog would have been 93 dog years old... A ripe old age..
there seems to be intersting debate about this..this chart shows that he would be 80 years old> http://www.uexplore.com/misc/dogyears.htm
Of course, every one is expert! lol
