Great question! So much for the predestination sermon. If predestination is true, then how can anyone have 'free will'?
All religions insult intelligence and have a contempt for knowledge. I'll prove it, go tell your pastor the part you are having trouble with in your church's belief system. Tell him what you really think about some of the beliefs. Churches don't want thinkers, they want followers, allegience, obedience, unquestioning loyalty and nonstop tithing. They think they have the answers, not you, so who are you to question them?
Let's think for ourselves and stop supernatural group think. Its always been dangerous, even when it looked benign and seemingly beneficial.

LOL im cracking up here at the 'god gave humans free will'...as NONE of you know if your god exists how can you comment? Its called SCIENCE...so many christians are opposed to i t, but they sure as hell use a lot of it when it suits them. Was gods plan to oversee the brutal murder of the Jews in the 2nd world war? Was his part of his master plan to see small children suffer in Chernobyl? Was it his plan to see millions slaughtered in war fare through out history? Wake up, there is no all loving christian god, its all in your mind

When God gave us the our free will, He of course knew that we would at times use it to commit horrible acts, even acts that infringe upon others' rights (e.g. murder, theft). God knew we would war with each other, fire missiles at each other, assassinate, lie, swindle, degrade, and disrespect each other.
Perhaps the ones who die so young were such perfect souls that they didn't need to stay away from heaven any longer than necessary; perhaps they are sent back. Ultimately, if we believe that we are all God's children, then we will all get a fair chance to return to Him.

If you're looking for an answer from a Christian standpoint:
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose -- Romans 8:28
Perhaps a woman might come to believe in God after the physical, emotional, and psychological trauma of an abortion.
---
Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honored use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory -- Romans 9:21-23
God's wisdom is above that of mankind. Furthermore, everything that happens is orchestrated for his greater glory. It is not ours to question.

God is omnipotent, but he loves us so he gave us free will. It is our choice how we live our lives, and I am not religious per se I believe in karma. For everything that happens there is a reason and a consequence.

i think the divine/god (whatever you call it!) is more of an onlooker, like a passive teacher. It is like a test, but one that many people wont recognise as a test, he is trying to evolve our spirits without intervening as learning from within ourselves is the best kind. I think the divine uses their power to create situations that challenge us and make us learn more about ourselves spiritually. I think that by god intervening its like they are holding our hand and we never learn for ourselves.
I think with the abortion thing, god/divine is saying 'look, im testing you, will you do this or not?' and they experience of being in a world where abortion is available and choosing whether or not to do it is a lesson in itself

Doesn't the fact that you asked this question tell you something? There IS no god,if there was & he allowed such awful things to happen, then he would be a monster, surely common sense tells you that?

Abortion isn't murder. Just because it vaguely resembles a human shaped worm doesn't mean it is alive. It has no perception, no mind, nothing besides a few cells we call a body. How is that a life? It is no worse than using the pill or a condom.

God knows and sees all...but He is not responsible for what man does..God gave free will ..and then man expects to blame God for the choices that they have made.
