If you're talking finances, yes. Your goal should always be to be debt-free.
If you're talking more philosophically, no. We all owe a debt to many other people. This includes soldiers for fighting for our freedom, police and firefighters for protecting us, our parents for raising us, our teachers for teaching us, and SO many more.

It is not possible.
First you owe your parents for bringing you up.
Then you owe your education to those who got it going.
If you are religious you owe your religious teachers for guiding you through your mess.
If you have friends you owe them for relieving your lonliness every now and then.
If you have enemies you owe them for teaching you lessons to strengthen and wisen you up.
If you meet someone special you owe this person for opening up your heart.
Life in interdependent. You can never manage alone. :)

Technically yes.
If you moved to a state that has no property tax, bought a methane burning engine to turn a generator to produce your own electricity, drilled a well to pump your own water, used a bicycle or a horse & buggy to get to where you needed to go. Burned your own trash to heat your place, sold the recyclable waste to recyclers.
It might be possible, but difficult.
Tell me, does the Amish lifestyle appeal to you?

Nope, everyone owes their parents for giving them life. However no parent expects any sort of repayment.
