When I step on my scale I zero it first, and lets say it goes to 139. When I get off the scale, it will read 1 or 2 pounds, so I will zero it again and get back on and it will say 137. And I keep doing it until I get a stable reading (usually at about 135).

So what does this mean? Do I weight 139? Or 135? What's up with my scale??

You answered your own question. Perhaps you might learn to enjoy eating healthy and exercising rather than be obsessed with weight issues.

You sound like an intelligent person. Perhaps its our culture that causes us to deliberately doubt ourselves (taken to extremes, even castigate ourselves), so that another person can look better. I think it's healthy to have a healthy sense of pride about ourselves first (no matter how we look physically) before all the other elements of losing weight becomes a reality.

Don't sabotage yourself. Yuo have most of the answers to your own life.

wHY DO YOU KEEP FIDDLING WITH YOUR SCALE? every time you play with it, you change the setting. to set your scale, zero it, step on it lightly so it goes to 10 or so and let it fall back to Zero, then place a 10 or 20 pound weight on it. if the weight is correct, your scale is correct. I have corrected my scale with a 5 pound bag or flour before.

All scales are usually off by a few pounds, try not to obcess about what the scale says and instead go by your measurements and the way your clothes fit.Do not worry about it so much that you end up jeopardizing your progress, its so not worth that.

Buy a Tanita. Your weight won't change and you'll really know how much you weigh.
