No. That is a common myth that is not true. You still have to go through the proper procedures.

Been there done that, learned more than I ever expected to and am very cautious when just SPEAKING to a foreigner now due to the teachings they are given regarding U.S. females...No, it's not automatic...Green card first, then after 3 years application must be made for citizenship, must pass the test and our country must not be in conflict with the country the applicant is originally from...Get a no or a fail out of any of those 3 and it won't happen...If a citizen marries an illegal and the illegal has children and the children were added to the paperwork on the initial application for a green card for the illegal and green card is granted, the children automatically get green cards as well...If the illegal parent becomes a citizen all of his children automatically become citizens and all of the family members, brothers, sisters, mother, father can be sponsored by the citizen and they can come here to the U.S.

It's by no means automatic. After you get married you have to apply for permanent residence for the spouse, a process that can take 6 months to a year. Then they have to be a permanent resident for 3 years before applying for citizenship.
