English is spoken throughout the world.

Various countries recruit English speaking persons to teach their citizens basic English.

American English are Taught ONLY in the USA and Philiphines and Guam. Maybe a few Universities in Arab countries uses American English, in Lebanon, Egypt or Syria.

Canadian, Australians and New Zealanders even Repb of Ireland still uses similar usage as British English. Not all the same but similar

Other commonwealth country thatr is fully independant ( Queen not head of State and NO ties to Britain at all) still use British English in schools, spellings etc etc but not accent. Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, India, Pakistan and the rest who uses English as first or Second

English is the language spoken by the ppl of England.The places where they setup colonies they started using the language.

So it became widespread.The same happend in Americas also.

The language got modified or rather spoiled in the due course and it came to be generally called as american english.

This is my opnion.U can have different notions abt American English.

Here in the Philippines English is an official language. We use American English because we were once a colony of USA.

A number of schools have employed my son to pronounce English in the Chinese English classes in order to get the accents correct.
A friend in Burundi speaks and writes in quite good English given the national language is French.
A friend in Ghana speaks impeccable English - English.
A friend in Sierra Leone speaks horrendous any English.
A friend from Peru speaks fair American English with a heavy accent.

american english is only used in america, apart from the ones who have moved from america.

here in Iran they prefer "American English to British , or any other dialect ...maybe cause it s easier to pronounce

not very, but the British and Canadian are pretty well known, since most of the ESL teachers come from those two countries
