Atheists have to be "passionate" about convincing people that their isn't a God because they are fools. The fool has said in his heart that there is no God. I've never seen Atheism heal anyone, create an artistic masterpiece, give anyone hope, make any sense whatsoever, or give any evidence whatsoever that there is no God. It's more about a personal vendetta that stems from disappointment in people than a non-belief in God.

Attempting to prove a negative is as futile as trying to prove an idea with absolute no substantial evidence; only a fool takes up a fool's argument. While it is impossible to determine the thoughts and motivations of everyone in a "collective of individuals" - that is to say, atheists are often *only* connected in the disbelief of a higher power - I think you'll find that many atheists' true passion stems from shock, outrage or frustration with the fact that others *do* believe so fervently in something that appears very transparent to the objective onlooker. Couple this with the notion that faith has a nasty habit of spilling out of the church and into the law books, and it's easy to see why someone might become passionate about demanding a more solid premise for the dictation of how one lives. While many Judeo-Christian precepts that have become part of American legal foundation are quite useful for civilized life; "don't kill people", "don't take things that don't belong to you," etc, consider that there are many, such as "don't purchase alcohol on Sunday" that exist only to satisfy the religous, and end up infringing on the rights of others to live as they please. No doubt many atheists want to "prove" that there is no higher power governing the universe, but their stance can be taken no more seriously than one who claims to "know" or, better yet, offer "evidence" that such a thing exists. The underlying issue is often related to matters of church-state seperation, and attempting to prove that there is no God is a misguided attempt at "curing the problem" (belief) where no "cure" is necessary, rather than "treating the symptoms" (infringement on personal rights), which is a tangible and worthwhile cause.

Good point and question from your point of view. Also I see your reasoning in support your point of view. Now will you allow me to state my point of view starting with these questions? What does God have to do with a religion? Is there or can there not be a religion with out a God? How do you define a God?
I must ask those questions because I find in the definition of religion in the Yahoo dictionary the following: A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
Did you not in your question declare that "an Atheist have to be passionate about convincing people". Is that not a pursuit with a conscientious devotion or zeal? Are you not dedicated to a cause, principle or activity of convincing people that your reasoning is sound. I did you know accept your reasoning as being very sound to support your view and your activity. Thus I did say I was convinced of that OK.
Howwever I did notice in your reasoning you stated there is NO GOD! Likewise you state that religion retards much. Now how can you practice what is defined as religion, convince one like me that your point of view is based upon solid reasoning by using a religious defined method and still say religion does retard. ha ha ha. Are you saying I was retarded because I do see your point of vierw and do accept what you say as being ok for you and good support for your opinion?
My friend are you just trying to confuse me? Are you just joking and using religion to cheat me into seeing your point of view that religion does retard me. Please many have told me I am retarded enough for my question posted here and some of my answers. As a pure "NO" I do not want to be more retarded. Have some mercy OK.
Please do think that all over and do smile as a retarded "NO" will quit now before I do see more in that question to make me more retarded.
Do smile and have a good day as you sort that all out.
I do not expect a best answer because I just gave my view as I see it. It is good enough for me but you of course are free to have your own opinion and to say you do not use religion. You can also say the dictionary is wrong. That is your free option OK and I can accept that.
P.S. Do ask some more but next time do not try to make me more confused OK.

"God is not religion, but a spiritual bond"
-Immortal Technique
that's the way i see it...i'm a Taoist Methodist, but aren't into the whole savior thing...i believe in something called oblivion, but w/e...u probably don't care
true religion is secular, not the mass religions that do brainwash (in a sense) people and exclude people...when God blessed the world, he made no exceptions...some people just don't understand that

Those who believe in God and Christ are passionate and certain in convincing people that there is a God. An atheist doesn't believe in neither God or Christ, therefore he/she knows nothing about convincing. Those who believe in nothing fall for everything.

Because they believed that all religions have similarities in objectives. The truth is religion was made only to discipline its' own followers.

It's because they are weak-minded and haven't yet come to the realization that God really does exist and that He loves them. So, they go around trying to bring others down to their level.
It's kinda like the bully on the playground who knows he's dumb, but doesn't want to admit it, so he bullies the smart kids and calls them names like "dummy".

I wouldn't go SO far. Although there have been rapes and murders either in the name of, or covered by, the Church, I wouldn't call it the rapist and murderer of the human mind. They are invasive, they are disrespectful (organised religions, I mean). But rape and murder are two different things.
