If you want out of the relationship...GET OUT!
If you continue being friends he could get confused and think that there is still something there to hold onto.
Start dating someong else and explain to your EX that the relationship is over and he needs to move on with his life.
There must have been a good reason to want to leave him after 3 years of commitment...consider this when he starts talking about you and him as a couple.

If you want out for good, you have to act that way.
Not friends.
Not buddies.
ABSOLUTELY NOT waiting on or for him.
Trying to be nice after a breakup - that just confuses people.
I don't mean you should be cruel or nasty, but if you are broken up-- BE broken up, not sort of maybe partly broken up. Move on to find other fun things and people in your life.

Honey, just move on. I know it hurts but, just being friends with an exboyfriend just does not work. You will just always be thinking of what your relationship use to be like and it will just make it hurt more and longer. You need to heal. I tried to be friends with my ex and I ended up just hurting myself more in the long run. He wanted to date others and still for me to be his "buddy." It tore me up inside.

Well if he is worth the wait, then wait. But it really depends on why you guys broke up. If he cheated the screw him and move on. Like I said it really depends on what the situation is.

you'll be waitin for a long time.....he just wants you as something to fall on when his plan doesn't go through. Don't waste your time. Move on. Very few of my ex's hung around as friends unless they still wanted to mess around

What has this got to do with cooking and recipes unless you want to throw his nuts in a blender and serve with toast

Take all the advice others have given you. My advice to you is to put your question in the right category. "Cooking and Recipes" is hardly the place for this question.

Ex-boyfriend/girlfriend's don't make good friends because they always end up having sex again. They turn into "f*ck buddies."

I would say if he really betrayed you I would cut off all ties to him and let him earn your trust back.
You can't be a push over. let him know he was wrong and you wont take that ****.
