sam- I am not saying move on or get over it, i am just saying the devision should stop. What happened was a crime agianst humanity not just a certian race. I think that we should learn from the history of this, but are just doing ourselves a diservice to hold grudges either way. I do know that racism still exists, but i feel like it is more socially acceptable for black people to say things about white than the other way around. I don't hold any responsiblity for something that my great grandfather did. I am not saying forget i am just saying don't blame the wrong person.

Why do you feel that you are being blamed for your ancestors? Please specify your reasons. I am so tired of this question because people always say get over it and move on but how do you easily forget the deaths of your loved ones that had to die mercilessly for just being black? Senseless acts of killing and I am not going to count the numbers of Black people who lost their family members to racist people and never seen any justice inflicted on their murderers. The new white generation make no mistake still have racist people among them. I see young people that ask questions here on yahoo answers that are extremely racist and their ideas are not far from a plantation owner or kkk member. I don't judge all white people the same but among the new white generation, there are still many that carry out old ways and feelings toward Black people. Let's not be blind to the fact that racism still exists and that we learn about our history so we are not doomed to repeat it. Racism was not only demonstrated in a certain time period, it has been and still demonstrated in this day and age. Maybe Black people would change their views if it didn't affect billions before and billions today. Make no mistake, I am black and when I want something I go and get it. I don't base my failures or achievements because of someone else but by my own actions. Even if there is a racist in my way, I use my intelligence to move them aside.

I agree, many blacks still hold hostility for how they were treated over 100 yrs ago, true it took half of that just to get them their freedom. But in time I'm sure that they will move past it as my ancestors did after they left Egypt as freed slaves.

It's not "black people" generally, it is a lot of races and I know it offends me a great deal to be stereo-typed as a racist just because my complexion is light.

It is never socially acceptable for anyone to show animosity because of race. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, though, that's life.

No, it is not socially acceptable. People should be accountable for the actions that they take as individuals. One white person is not accountable for actions of another, whether they are living or dead.

Black people need to accept their own mistakes! I mean come on blacks if your not that smart because you drop outa school don't blame us for you not getting a job thats your own fault. Also the rule where a certain amount of blacks need to be hired for a company to be safe from lawsuits is bull. Since if a black wants a job they need to be qualified for a job. No different than Whites.
