Well, you can't get a dog to chase them, and coating the yard with pepper probably won't do your kids any favors either. Why not buy a live catch trap? You can either take them to a shelter, or move them far enough away from you home that they won't come back. Plus, if you buy the trap, you'll aways have it when the next stays start coming around.
This is the one I bought one for the exact same problem, from an eBay seller named "ironcitytrapcompany" It worked great!

Take them to an animal shelter. My grandpa always took stray cats to a farm and dropped them off. I tried this once but it bothered me all night and in the morning I decided to go check on them. They had been sitting in the same spot where I left them the whole night. I decided to take themto my home for a bit until a neighbor notified me she was looking for a black kitten. The other one was gray. She took up residence with a cop down the road for me. There are way to many cats and they keep breeding. The wild is running low on food supplies for strays. I heard on Animal Planet that in order for each cat in America to have a home each home would have to have 5 cats. A lot of Felines starve to death.

Either take them to an animal shelter, call the game warden, he will take them an animal shelter or put cat free to good home in the paper, someone will take them.

Call your local humane society. They can loan you a trap that won't harm the cat. A new home for the kitties would be great.

Keep a squirt bottle of water handy and just squirt them with it whenever they show up. If you do this every time you see them they should learn quickly not to hang around your house.

you can catch them and then take them to an animal shelter or just call the animal control and they will do it for you. they usually take them to the shelter...and that way they can be adopted by a loving family.
