Please to not answering with someone else's real world religion - I'm talking about religions invented for books and games and the like. Just a silly poll to hopefully lighten the mood a little.

Me? I have two off the top of my head.

Legend of Zelda mythology: Even given the really messed-up nature of the Zelda timeline, the mythology is always really interesting. Can't argue with magic equilateral triangles.

"Mid-Ocean/Valuan mythology" (Skies of Arcadia): The game doesn't hit you over the head with it or anything, but what's hinted at of the main characters' religion is pretty interesting. Bascially the seem to worship the six magical moons of their planet.

There have been times when I've been really enthralled by a fictional religion but at the moment I'm having a severe brain block. All I can think of is the pseudo-religions in one of the Star Trek movies with Spock's brother, where Spock's brother examines people's previous pain and frees them from it. But I don't know if that qualifies.

And oh I must say I like a lot of the religious & ethical questions posed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Actually Jedi now is consider a religion to where you can put it down in the religion section of fill-out forms. So would that count in this now?

I don't know though, that religion in Resident Evil 4 seemed neat. I like how they had the power to do what they could do. I would want to be like that Cheif of the town. He was awesome I thought. So, yeah, Resident Evil 4's religion. Or wait, maybe the belief set of Elder Scrolls games. That was nice too, I like the different guilds and all. So those two appeal to me that I would follow.

Come on, all religions are fictional, so you are wrong to say any are real. As for intentionally (for everyone) fictional religions, I recall one in some science fiction novel I read years ago. Someone saw a goddess of agriculture named Virvichal moving in the fields. The image was fascinating. I considered painting it, but i never did find a model who looked right.

The Lurkdragon,
Great question! That would be the one created by Tolkein in the Silmarillion. It was so fantastic! It would make a great movie. I wonder who would do it. I really think that Peter Jackson could do it, but the direction they want to go, I think, is to do The Hobbit. I certainly hope they will. I actually got to talk to Andy Serkis, (Gollum) and he said that there was a lot of talk about it. He for one, would love to play his part again.

I guess it's more of a philosophy- Robert Heinlein in the Lazarus Long books.

I also like the Gor novel ideas in John Norman's Gor trilogy.

Good Q!
