I don't mind at all. I was gone this weekend and just found this. But I am honored, actually. And yes, I was impressed. To anwer your question my mother brought me up strictly atheist.
I am spiritual, not religious. I haven't touched methamphetamine in over 2 1/2 years. This after using daily for years, and assuming I'd die that way. God has done for me what I couldn't do for myself. But He is a God of my (mis) understanding. I get made fun of by every single person in my family of origin for believing. But I pray for them anyway!

No....I would not be an atheist because there are just so many little things in life that point you to bigger things beyond just you and those around you. Its like this feeling, sometimes, that it's just all to beautiful and complex, yet so simple to be wasted on such a destructive race such as ourselves. It's just this unexplainable feeling like as if those little things in life the birth of a cedar tree from a tiny seed, as if it was life in a can, just add water....it is just sooo miraculous when you see it you feel you are so close to something big that you are part of this wonder beat that makes up life and something more.
No...I would not follow whatever religion my parents would suck me into because when I was 8 I actually remember analyzing if the words that were said in church actually made any sense to me or were right in any way, and I remember sometimes doubting my religion too, despite my parent's influences. I almost didn't have my confirmation, because I asked my mom if I could delay it for a while until I got all my thoughts together.
If my religion had not been invented but all the others had I would choose either Judaism or Islam, but most likely Islam because it still worships God, and worships him in such a true and devout way, by being humble yet still elaborate.

Blessed are those who believe yet do not know.
For everyone there needs to be a belief in something greater or more powerful that they can ask assistance from or pray to or look to for greater guidance. Some seek this out in meditation. Some believe in the greater goodness or badness of a common spirit or dimension. If someone feels a need to believe in Greek Mythological Gods, Scientology like Tom Cruise, or even God if they cause no problems why worry about it. Personally my problem is I think Chocolate is the answer to all problems and so do my thighs. I think that going to church (probably a calming one) has been shown to improve the immune systems of people possibly by decreasing stress and improving relaxation. Which is probably also related to serotonin levels much like chocolate increases it. But it is not as fattening as chocolate. Maybe I should start going back to church regularily. The problem is I get so relaxed in church I start falling asleep and do not want to end up like other people who fall asleep snoring on the same pew. I have to talk a kid in my family into going with me to poke me awake when I start doing that and they often go to church in the morning I prefer evening services usually.

I am a muslim,
We believe god sent messenger to every people. When those messengers left the word of god got corrupted or forgotten. (There was no paper). Every prophet taught his people .. "Worship one god". This is the case with every prophet.
So its quite possible that errant religions are results of corrupted religions.
As to Judaism this is the same case. In the bible it says,
How do you say, We are wise, and the law of Yahweh is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has worked falsely.
Jeremiah 8:8
As for Christianity, Muslims believe the bible was given to Jesus and Jesus only. So the writings of those who came after jesus and were inspired are not the words of god. Which we believe is the reason for Jesus being elevated to the status of son of god.
The Quran was given to Muhammad. It was a book that was written during the lifetime of Muhammad(SAW) onto parchments.
So the different religions are alteration of some true religion, with the exception of false prophets.

I can truthfully say that I would not have chosen any,nor would I have been an atheist.I've all ways looked into things,not at them.As a small boy I could see in my minds eye all these miniature solar systems,and the vaster galaxies,and the billions of light years as time past.So I decided a very long time ago that I am merely on a ride......I"m riding on the earth,while it rides around the sun,while the sun orbits around the Milky Way galaxy....{oh by the way that speed around the Milky Way is about 500.000 MPH.....}

My faith was not "invented". I don't go for "religion"..one can have religion, and not have God.
I do, however believe in God and His only Son, Jesus. I believe that Jesus suffered, died and rose from the dead, so that I could love forever with Him. This is not something that me or my parents were "sucked in to". This is by my own experiences and through my own personal relationship with my God and King!

heh, i asked a question similar to this. i asked: if christianity didnt exist, which religion would you follow? i specifically asked people not to try to avoid the question, but most christians had quite a difficult time doing that. my favorite answer was from someone who said: if christianity didnt exist, then we wouldnt exist. it made me laugh.
as for your question, i dont believe in religion, mainly because i think all religions were made up by people who wanted to control other people.
good luck on getting some reasonable answers. :)
heh. from what i read so far, seems the ones who believe in jesus and the christian god cant seem to be able to accept your question. go figure.

All religions are invented.
An atheist does not believe in god. You can belive in your own idea of god, without following any religion. In fact, That's what the world's most spirityal people do. They have their own personal religion, and believe in their own idea of god.
So, the simple answer to your question is no.

Well I wasn't always a Satanist. But prior to descovering the Satanic Bible, I still held the same principle beliefs I do today. And that's why I decided to adopt the title "Satanist". Turns out it representd everything I already believed in and I was just looking for something to call them by.

I hold my beliefs because of my experiences. They are spiritual matters based on spiritual experiences. I'm perfectly OK with you not agreeing with me or believing what I believe. How could you, you haven't seen what I've seen. You can't tell me that my experiences aren't real, or that they didn't happen. I mean, you're an Atheist, which means you've seen nothing. And based upon what you've seen, or rather not seen, you should be an Atheist. You'd be foolish not to.
But please don't expect me to forgo that which I've lived and experienced for the opinion of someone who's seen nothing spiritual. Should I deny myself sight because the blind man hasn't seen light?
