I have hurt my hands and feet many times hitting walls and kicking doors when I have been angry. Is there something less harmful I can do to get this emotion out without huring myself?

I have hurt the feelings of those around me by yelling.

I know the Bible says, "In your anger do not sin". I would like to be able to do that.

Thanks.

I agree with anger management, they will teach you tools to cope. You also have to sit down and really think about what makes you angry and why.

It's not so much sin as your loss. If you alienate or frighten people who could be good friends, you won't ever get to know them.

Try excusing yourself (have to take a call, make a call, have a cigarette, meet a friend), then try taking the deepest breath you can . Hold it thru' five. Slowly let it out. While you do this a few times, maybe consider the source of your hurt, or why that person recalled it to your mind.

Think of the fact that this also happened to your hero, and they kept their dignity in public. It might not have been always the case for them, but, you know, they lived their life, not anyone else's idea of the way to be.

Take a very deep breath, so that you can feel it going all the way down your body to the soles of your feet. Hold it for a few seconds, then let it out slowly and visualize all the anger leaving your body along with the breath. Then pray to God, in your own words, that He will help you get rid of the anger without harming yourself or anyone else. Repeat the breathing exercise, and feel your body relaxing as the air and the anger leave you. Thank God for helping you get rid of the anger in a harmless way.

Remove yourself from the situation and find a quieter place where you can sit and find a still place inside you. Close your eyes and breathe really deeply. For me meditating helps and when i get really calm and go deep inside myself feels like going down in an elevator. Being a redheaded french girl i know about getting very pissed .........over the years i found it takes more engery to act out then it does to find that quiet place and center myself i also do a lot of diary writing to let it all out.

Personally when I get angry, I either throw my running shoes on and go for a run or I take a walk. I have, in the past, thrown and destroyed things and came close to getting in a physical confrontation with someone but I have learned to channel it inmore positive ways. It's hard work, believe me, but I'm getting better at it. It just takes practice.

you could just find a quiet place to clear your mind. remember, even in anger you can think, i suggest you always think before you hurt anyone with your words. it all depends on you, whether you are willing to change or not, but changing may take time so, take your time

You must accept the negative situation which is causing you to be angry in the first place.

When you accept and allow the negative, there is no possibility of anger.
