We grew up with the parents that we lived with and learned behavior patterns that (good or bad) stick with us and endure.... How do we change? Why is it so hard to become a different person than the one you are?

We either get determination and just do it, or fall in love. We always change when we fall in love, it makes us a better person. As for the bad habits you picked up, we have to realize that if we don't stop now, we'll end up like our parents are when we get to that point in our lives. It's sad, but usually parents are a perfect example of many things we DON'T wanna be.

When you're a child you learn from your parents, and other adults. When you grow up you can see the difference between good and wrong. You can change into a better person, just like you can turn into a bad person no matter how good your parents raise you!

YES...I have noticed that. In my family...we were always late, anywhere we went...and look at me now...married and with a 6mos old baby boy...arriving places late. There are some bad habits I try to change but I find it so hard to do because that is how I was brought up. I was and am still so used to that way of doing things that now it comes 2nd nature to me...and I try everyday to try and change the way I see things to enable me to fix the things that make me late. Determination and planning are working but every person has to analyze who they are try to become their own person and not follow the ways of their parents. Because excuses like 'I was brought up that way' just aren't that excusable.

A person`s personality which includes physical mental and emotional structure is fixed. With great pains and practice one can pretend to be different.

a person can change but it takes alot of hard work and therapy. it takes a huge commitment because it will take time to change those patterns that we want to change.
