there are natural domestic breeds that are as old as the wolves..We had no way of knowing, until recently, when DNA tests were done as a study on all AKC recognized breeds...
Among those with ancient DNA were Akita, Saluki, Siberian Husky, Afghan Hound, Basenji, Chow chow, Shar Pei..these breeds are between 35,000 and 115,000 years old....Surprisingly, several breeds thought to be of ancient origin, such as Pharaoh hounds, and Ibizan were found to be quite recent in comparison..The modern Wolves and Coyotes are about the same age as those dogs listed above..

The first actual breed, and not a wolf or feral dog of some sort, is the Greyhound. They had them in Rome back in what i guess you would call "biblical times". They are apparently mentioned in the bible itself. I saw this on animal planet a few weeks ago.

The earliest breed to be mentioned as such is the greyhound; it is in the Bible (Proverbs 30:29-31): "There are three things that go well, yea, four are comely in going: a lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away from any; a greyhound; an he-goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up."

All dogs today were bred from wolves, so technically, the wolf was the first "dog".
