Hm. I think hunting is a no-no, since the animals wouldn't be slaughtered kosherly, and you aren't supposed to just go out and kill animals. Fishing, as long as the fish are kosher (not shellfish, for example),should be okay.

It's fine for food but forbidden for pleasure because of the Jewish law forbidding any unnecessary pain towards animals. The Jewish view is shown in a chapter of Talmud (Baba Metzia 85a)

"Rabbi Yehuda HaNassi was a perfect righteous man, yet he suffered greatly. How did it begin? Through a certain event. He was walking through the marketplace when a calf being led to the slaughter ran to him and hid under his cloak. He told the sheep, "Go. For this you were created." That is when his suffering began.

And it ended through another deed. His maid was sweeping the floor and found the young of a weasel nested beneath the boards. She began to sweep them away, when he stopped her. "It is written," he said, "that his compassion is upon all of his works." That is when his suffering ceased.… "

Some Jews believe that fish have no pain and therefore it is permissible to fish for sport. Rabbi Yechezkel ben Yehuda Landau the 18th century scholar strongly disapproved of hunting anything as he considered it a frivolous waste of life.

The Kotzker Rebbe Rabbi Menachem Mendel Morgenstern, was said to not let anything be killed in his home (including bugs) because of how precious life was.

What do you mean? If you read the Bible it will talk about how some of Jesus' disciples were fishermen. That was an important occupation to Jews.
