they started in my thumbs and worked their way into my other fingers, toes, then my hands. i tried to dig one out once to see what it was but found nothing but possibly some sort of air bubble. they're quite painful, but not anything to go to the doctor over i don't think. anyone know what they are or could be?

Go to the doctor. it started and spread, that would be enough for me to see a doctor, and pain is never good.

I definitely think it's time to get them checked by a doctor. I don't know what they look like but if they are solid feeling lumps at the base of each finger and toe it could be rheumatoid arthritis. Especially since they are painful. They can tell with a blood test and maybe an xray. Please go.******************************************************

Are they smallish circles with air or liquid in them? You could have contact dermatitis (allergy to something you touched, could be bleach etc). Or it could be herpatic whitlow also caught by touching something or someone with an infection from the herpes virus.
