Are you wanting just State Parks? If so then my two favorites are Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park near Crescent City California, you camp right among the Redwoods, the beautiful Smith River flows through the park.. You can do it all, camp, hike, kayak etc...I have been to every state except Alaska to camp, backpack, kayak and JS is the most spectacular by far..

Another I enjoy is Buffalo River State Park(Buffalo Point) in North Central Arkansas. Nice place to camp and canoe/kayak, there are some nice trails also...

If you want National parks also, then I would have to include in my favorites, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain and Great Smoky Mountains. Yosemite being far and away #1, especially in the late spring, when the valley roars from the waterfalls!

If you want to do overnight, backcountry backpacking then go with Yosemite, if you want spectacular scenery and are more into day hikes and camping Jedidiah Smith is the place to go...

Lake Texoma, Texas is a very nice state park. Some National Parks, like Grand Teton, and Rocky Mountain N.P. are even better.
