Conversely, many people gain weight in the winter because they are less active and they eat more during the holiday season. They then find themselves trying to lose the excess weight in the months that follow New Year's.

I tend to gain weight in the winter! That is because I just am not as active in that bitter cold. Eat as much, but not as active!

No. As a matter of fact, people usually lose less in winter, since they usually stay inside watching TV and eating, whereas in the other seasons, people are outside on walks, hikes, fishing, or sports.

if we were outside often, we would due to the fact that our body needs to burn more calories in order to stay warm but then again, the more we're outside, the more we're able to eat since our metablism is going up, we just dont realize it. most people stay inside most of the time, therefore excercise less and eat more, so instead of losing more weight during winter, people tend to gain weight.

Not me. I tend to gain weight during winters. What with staying indoors and less exercise and more steaming hot hot stuff to be consumed.

What side of the equator are you from??????????? My side we gain weight!!!!!!!!!! We are biologically pre-programed to eat more for survival instincts because of the cold weather. Fat insulates so we want to eat more. OK, in all fairness, I asked my husband who is my mentor to answer this one and he said in fact yes we do tend to look smaller due to the air compression of colder air and makes everything seem smaller even our body size. So you have two totally different answers and you can choose the best on out of both. I have to give it my husband though, he's a genius and I have a hard time keeping up with his intelligence sometimes to I vote his answer as the better one.

No. It's the other way around. We lose more weight during summer because of the heat and we sweat a lot even if we hardly move.

Nope. You gain more weight because of all the holidays. Halloween candies, Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas dinners all are curpits.
