would depend on your reason for being "unable" to breastfeed. are you sure you REALLY were unable? many women assume they are b/c they dont have the proper support and understanding of it. very very few women actually are unable to breastfeed. so i would strongly lean towards yes, you can breastfeed your next child. I have breastfed three children and it was NOT easy at all with any of them in the beginning.. you have to be determined and educated. be sure to take a breastfeeding class, consult with a lactaction consultant, read books, anything you can do to prepare yourself

It really depends on what caused you to be unable to breastfeed.
If it was a sucking problem--the kid wouldn't latch on correctly. There's a great chance that the next one will come out knowing exactly what to do! I had two great suckers, 1 great sucker after he spent 10 minutes trying to latch on (he was lucky he was the fourth and I'm patient), and 1 who was a demon hell child who if I had known how difficult the breastfeeding thing was going to be for the next 7 months I would of given up in the hospital! He was a real sipper not a sucker with very little appetite.
If it was a milk production problem then rest assured the milk comes in much heavier the 2nd time. Make sure you have a good lactation specialist on hand to assist you. Mine made her hospital visit when my family and friends were visiting me. She was utterly disgusted by the noise and confusion in the room but had to make her rounds. As we attempted to talk she finally asked--are all these children yours? I said yes. She said--Did you breastfeed all of them? I said yes. She said--You don't need me! and left.

Ask for a lactation specialist at your hospital when the new baby is born. The will tech you the right way to b-feed. I was taught better with my second and b-fed him 10 months longer than I had my daughter.

Your chances are good. Every pregnancy is different. Your body reacts different with each one.
