Well, this is what i think:
When a person dies, their spirit leaves their physical body and goes into one of two states, which i guess can be called "heaven" or "hell". We go into this state of "heaven" when we die and realize that we have moved on. We realize that we are dead and can "rest in peace" so to speak, unless you were sad or something has disturbed you in your life. We go into a state of "hell" when our spirits haven't realized that it has left the physical body and is "lost", so to speak. I believe that "heaven and hell" aren't places like many people believe, but rather a state your spirit rests in. I also think that there really isn't a way to determine whether you go to one state or another. Being evil or nice will not get you that ticket into heaven or hell. But maybe they way you have died or when you have died, like at a certain age, or maybe even your knowledge of heaven and hell and death. But really, nobody really knows for sure; we just have to wait and see!
If you use mine, you have to site your sources! My name is Joel! I'm just kidding! =)

Hope you do well on your project. Personally, I love this topic! It's nice to think of what happens and hear others opinions!

Just some more thoughts:
I also think that our spirits roam the earth. Maybe your spirit stays where it enjoyed itself when it was in it's physical body. Maybe it tries to find more answers to life. I do think that we may even learn more things when we are out of our bodies. That is if we are aware of our departure from our bodies! So many possibilities. But who really knows?

With modern medicine, many people have had near death experiences. they all seem to describe the same thing a white tunnel of light, a feeling of euphoria and extreme peace. they say that endorphins are pumped into the system at the time of death and that explains why these people have this feeling of total peace. But WHY? Mankind never had modern medicine that was able to bring a person back from that stage. there is no way one could pass on the death euphoria gene there is no healing purpose for it at that stage you are going to die you are dead there is no logical reason nature is not kind. The only reason I can think of is that we are going on a trip.
So your question is, What happens when we die? my answer is, We don't.Our shells do, but we dont.

I'm agnostic, so have no firm religious beliefs. I am still undecided on what I believe happens when we die. I don't think I'm old enough to have had much experience with religion so far, to develop any opinion that I can actually back up, but I'll just let you in on my thoughts.

I like to believe in reincarnation, in a kind of soul cycle where we more than often don't even remember who we were. It would be like a new chance every time to make something better than before. I romantically like to imagine that what happens in 'The Amber Spyglass' happens, that we simply become different parts of the Earth.

I just can't handle the athiest opinion that we become nothing, as how can we who are alive and thinking comprehend not existing?

So there's something coming next, I just haven't quite decided on what I believe yet.

If you're Christian, you might be interested in the following Bible study. A lot of Christians believe they go to Heaven or Hell but in all actuality, the Bible says we simply stay in the graves as dust...no soul goes anywhere! Only at Christ's second coming are the righteous raised to eternal life and then the second resurrection for the unsaved after that...Oh yeah, Hell isn't a place, just an event. It's all in this study, k.^^

Plz choose the topic entitled 'The good news you never heard about hell'

it all depends on the religion of the person. For some, it is reincarnation, for others it's either heaven or hell. When I was younger, I was always taught (and actually believed) that if you were good, you would go to heaven, an endless place filled with happy people and cloud playgrounds, and where you would find your dead animals. Now, I just think that our soul rises to a big open place, not exactly a heaven, but an area where all dead people exist, but no one talks. You just wait, but what you are waiting for is beyond me.

Man definitely continues his life here in the dust, in history, in other human hearts and in the other spiritual worlds. If he didn't learn to affirm the truth and to conduct his life suitably to that truth, he would have wasted his present priceless existence.
Man's life is not for a low purpose as a stone, a tree or a bird. He is a rational being, his purpose must be much higher.
I believe that man continues to make spiritual progress after the dead of the body, so I focus on learning about the spirituality and encourage my loved ones to do so too.

Your soul leaves your body, and you go to heaven and are met there by friends and family that have passed before you.. Heaven is a wonderful place.. It is filled with peace and wonderment.. we are all well, no sickness, no hunger, and homeless. We are with family, and happy.. We do have a chance to come back to earth again as someone else if we wish.. in another life.. We can choose the life we wish to live.. be it good or bad.. short or long.. and that is the way of the world.. The Lord will take care of us no matter what, we only have to believe..

I can only say is you die, then your spirit either goes to Heaven or Hell. I believe that as soon as you die you have your judgement day immediately. I cannot believe in reincarnation for if that were true the population of the world would remain the same and not grow in numbers. Once you live that is it.

i definetely know for a fact that if you recieve Jesus Christ as Your Saviour you will have eternal life in Heaven and if you don't you will have eternal condemnation. Consider it for yourself not for your project. Hopefully you don't find out that your going to the fire, when you and actually all of us, face God on that day after leaving this life. You can't turn back time after death even in this life. I don't want you to think when standing b4 Jesus oopps i should have believe in Jesus for true happiness in that life on earth and to recieve and share in the Glory of the King Jesus as my God.

Death does not terminate man’s life. On the other hand, Islam teaches that it is the door that opens to an eternal lifer after death. The appropriate reward for one’s earthly deeds, good or bad, is disbursed only in the Hereafter. The Islamic belief is that mankind will be resurrected, on the Day of Judgment, after every creation is destroyed. After being reborn, man will face a trial which will be in absolute control of the Almighty. Here, all the good and bad acts of man during his sojourn on earth will be unfurled before his eyes in order to be ultimately judged by God. The virtuous will be rewarded with virtue and the wrong doers punished appropriately. Those who have made sacrifices and discharges noble deeds will receive the shelter of peace in Heaven and those who have denigrated their lives through vices and evil will be condemned to suffer horrors of Hell. Islam inculcates the concept of accountability both in public and private life of a person by emphasizing the paramount importance of life Hereafter for mankind.
