Elaies Guinieensis was introduced to Malaysia as an ornamental plant in 1870.

the palm seedlings are oil palms. There are two species one, comes from west Africa, between Angola and Gambia, called African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis). The other, American Oil palm,(Elaeis oleifera) is native to tropical Central and South America.
