If the PNG was created in Macromedia Fireworks, you may be able to access layers (including text layers) in the file in that program. This is a non-standard thing Fireworks does.
However, 99% of the time, PNG files created in other programs don't have layers you can individually edit. They are kinda like jpg or gif files in that fact.

All the mid to high end programs. Photoshop, The GIMP, Paintshop Pro and many others can work with png images just like any other.

U can try Photoshop or Paint Shop. Paint Shop helps to modify .png images.

When you view your files/folders in list view in the Finder window you will notice that across the headers there will be one highlighted in a colour (what colour depends on what system settings you have chosen). Likely at the moment this is Name on your computer which will display all items in that window in alphabetical order. The small triangle pointing up or down will determine sorting order (ie a-z or z-a). If you highlight one of the other headers by clicking in them the items will display in a different order, eg by date modified, by kind, etc.

Use Photoshop (www.adobe.com), Fireworks (www.adobe.com), Paint Shop Pro (www.corel.com). For text editing, i reccommend the first two.
