I run a computer business. AVG is very good, superior to NORTON , Mcafee, etc. Personally, 4 of the 5 computers on my home network run avira antivirus. it is at www.free-av.com Antivirus is just a piece of the solution, though. www.zonelabs.com offers a superior free firewall called Zone Alarm. For spyware, get Ewido, Spybot, AND Ad-Aware. Today, you NEED a multi-layed defense. Good luck.

Sure. AVG offers a bunch of other things as well.

What is more important is to be smart about your computer activities. There are a couple of rule you should learn:
1. The more important a project is, the more likely something will happen to make you lose it, including a system crash, virus corruption, theft, or power outage.

So BACK UP your stuff

2. Printing may cause a problem. So always SAVE your work BEFORE printing it

;-D Work smarter, not harder

The free anti virus programs rate as fair. Not bad but not the best
,you get what you pay for . It depends if you feel that your PC deserves or not, better protection. With so many viruses created all the time you what a company that you paid, to update your system for real time protection . I perfer norton and mcafee is pretty good too.
But dont take my word for it ,check out Microsoft website for thier recommendations on this subject:

AVG is excellent. (I have heard Avast is also). I use AVG and it has caught viruses trying to sneak onto my system.
