How will i do this? How will i afford my educaion? My dad makes too much $$ so i wouldnt qualify for fin aide. I dont want to be in debt all my life. Is this a common worry? You are in a situation that many, many students face, so first of all, you're not alone. Talk to several people at the university in financial aid (you might find a grant or scholarship you didn't know about) and several students and ask how they are financing school. You might have to take out loans, but that's ok...you can pay them back after you graduate and if you have difficulties doing so, talk to whomever loaned you money. You don't list a major, but you may not have to incur too much debt or may get a job where you could pay a loan off more quickly if you wanted to. Maybe for your next year in school you could establish residency in MN and pay in-state tuition. There are also a lot of jobs that are part-time and flexible, so you have a lot of options. Good luck!!

Well I do know colleges are usually less expensive if you live in that state... I would think college would be less money in Michigan for your parents to pay since you are a resident of Michigan.. Why Minnesota? I live in Minnesota and its very expensive here.. Lots of competion here and you may stuggle some in Mn.. No you don't want to be in debt but I do know if you have parents or anyone offering to pay for your college education and all you have to do is obey their terms, then consider it.. I don't know why your parents are being stubborn about it but perhaps they want you close to them.. I guess its not unreasonable .. Maybe a tad selfish of them but you don't want to get a loan and pay back for 30 years . Maybe start out under their terms and go the first year or so in Michigan.. Then see if they let you switch the 2nd or 3year and go 2 Minnesota... maybe they will change their minds..................... Or maybe you will

How about trying out MI for a year or two, get some $$$ saved up and then maybe you can afford to go to school in MN. Either way follow your heart. This is definitely a common worry. Please keep your debt low and your credit score high, it will all pay off in the up and coming years when you want to buy property like a house or a car. Good Luck.

If your parents won't pay in MN, then apply for FA in MN as an Independent. That is the only way to qualify to FA. Good luck. Don't give up. If theres a will theres a way. Oh, and don't forget about scholarships. There are some for everything.

Yes, it is a very common worry. Talk to your financial aid office so that they can advise you. Many, many students leave college with some debt. Dont be scared of taking out loans but do respect and understand what you are doing. ONLY take out what you need. There are plenty of PT jobs for college students (on and off campus) that will allow you to make extra cash.

I think if I were you I would look at my parents and think
how wonderful it is to have parents like them to pay for your education. There are so many out there in this United States who would love the opportunity to just go to college. I feel you maybe alittle selfish in your wants...
take the college in Mi. and be eternally grateful for the opportunity at all.

Be straight up with the folks. Ask for the same amount that they were going to spend in MI. Part time job for the rest or go to MI school.

Actually EVERYONE qualifies for financial aid. You may not get a pell grant but you WILL qualify for student loans. It's not that big a deal.
