He didn't commit suicide. He gave His life, which is completely different.

Christ went to the cross like a groom going to his wedding. Its not suicide if there is no death.
If you were a priest 1000 years ago you would know what the cross was a symbol of .The axis mundi the center of the universe the tree of life. Today we have lost the cultural references that were known then.
Now your getting all caught up in the use of words or the stories of words used to describe spiritual concepts.
"the best things cannot be told, because they transcend thought.
the second best are misunderstood, because they are the thoughts, that are supposed to refer to that which cant be thought about. the third is what we talk about.
we are talking about concepts that are absolute transcendent and cannot be debated with words and cultural concepts that are inadequate.
the problem with the people who right the stories is this.
describe the taste of salt. But don't use the word salt. what does salt taste like. You cant tell anyone they have to taste salt.
So debating it is pointless Find a Guru or a path and live it and search for truth.

I have the power to prevent myself from being raped by not walking in a dark alley by myself...but that doesn't mean I have consensual sex with my rapist.
Your definition of suicide is skewed (aka wrong). This would mean soldiers commit suicide by going to war...and that's not how it works.
Jesus not preventing His death isn't suicide- it's mercy and grace for His people. Besides, suicide is a selfish act. Jesus's act was selfLESS.

Jesus allowed himself to be killed in order to benefit others. This may have something in common with suicide, but since his death served a higher purpose, he was justified in allowing it to happen. Even ordinary (though heroic) humans have risked their lives or faced certain death to save others or to witness to the truth. Self-preservation is a high value, but not the highest.

Of course Jesus had the power to prevent his death.
But it's not suicide when you give your life in order to save someone else (in this case, EVERYONE else).
No sin there.

If you had power to raise yourself up again,
than it wouldn't be a suicide, would it?
Jesus said He had power to lay His life down, and to take it back up again.
HUGE difference from suicide.

If He hadn't died, billions more people would have spent eternity in Hell.
And besides, He obviously knew death would not be permanent for Himself anyway (since He came back a couple of days later!)

Allowing something to happen is not the same as forcing it to happen. Under scripture, he choose to allow others to kill him, for a higher purpose.
