My parakeet can make the razberry noise with out any lips.!!

Terrific?...Yes! Amazing...no.
He doesn't need any lips to mimic sounds he hears.

Technically, this is how is works:

"The larynx is at the entrance of the trachea. The opening of the larynx is the glottis. Birds differ from mammals in that the larynx does not have vocal chords and therefore is not involved in voice production. In addition, the small flap of tissue covering the glottis (the epiglottis) is not present."

Essentially, parrots make sounds not unlike blowing over the top of a bottle. But they are able to use their tongues to modulate the sound to vary pitch, tone and intonation.

It's great he makes that sound. Keep working on it and You wull probably be able to get him to talk...it will be very soft, but Budgies can be terrific talkers.

I rescued a baby mockingbird and it learned to make kissing sounds with its mouth wide open! Yeah, birds are amazing.

awww that is soo cool, I want a parakeet that does that too!! mommy!! get me one of those! =p thats awesome though =D Wish mine did.
