Is it true that unless a condom dosent break during intercourse...the viruses cannot passthru the condom and infect the other person?

Or is it that the partner has a remote/distant chance of being infected even if the condiom does not break?

Not condoms are not 100% percent active for example lets say if he has genital herpes and you have sex (with a condom) theres a 75% chance that the virus can be spread to you. my advice to you is if you are ready to have sax hopefully with someone you trust then both of you get tested and atleast know for sure

It depends on the STD. Some STD's tend to cause sores that may appear around, for example, the base of the penis or external female genitals, a condom isn't going to protect you.

On the other hand, they are _extremely_ effective at preventing HIV transmission, if used correctly EVERY time.

"A 1994 European study published in the New England Journal of Medicine looked at HIV transmission rates of heterosexual couples with one HIV-infected partner. The study compared the transmission rates for couples who used condoms consistently to those who didn't. Of the 123 couples who consistently used condoms, none of the HIV-free partners became infected during the study, whereas 12 of the 122 partners who didn't consistently use condoms became infected."

Some infections can pass through direct contact of infection to skin whereas some are viral. HPV and herpes virus can be transmitted without direct sore contact because they are viral and are in the vicinity of the infected area. A condom literally stops the transmission of sperm (and whatever it may contain) The only way to protect yourself is abstinence. However abstinence is boring, you just have to be careful in the characters you choose to sleep with and know that they take good regular checkups and care of their bodies.

A condom is never 100% effective in preventing anything. Bottom line if you are planning to have sex make sure you ask the guy/girl when the last time they were tested and ask to see the results. These days you never know who has what!

if the condom doesnt break then you do have a less chance than if it does but eaither way you still have a chance b/c STD's can be passed from skin to skin contact which it could even be kissing other things it maily depends on where the other person has it if they do...

Even with a perfectly good condom you can get herpes or genital warts. And even if your partner has no physical signs of an STD, they can still have them and pass them on to you.
