I have been having fairly severe stomach pains and nausea. Additionally, there is a little area of swelling....basically a "pouch" right above my navel (right where my stomach is, I guess.) Any idea what this could be until I can get it checked out? None of the medical websites seem to address all the symptoms I'm having (especially the swelling.)

The swelling (aka bloating), pain, and nausea could also be IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Yes, you want to get this checked out by a doctor, but I would wait to see your GP.

It sounds like you could have an umbilical hernia. Or, a number of other things, all which must be addressed by a doctor asap! If you are not having any bowel movements it could be a sign of a blockage in your intestines (it could be one anyway). That would be a true medical emergency as in go to the hospital right now. Also, your aorta goes up the middle of your body and there is a situation of some people having an aneurysm. Another medical emergency. There is nothing wrong with going to the emergency room if you feel like not waiting for a doctors appointment. I think you should go. Good Health to you.

Go to the ER! Pain, swelling, and redness can be signs of a very serious problem. Just get checked out. Good luck.
